Brunswick Gets Physical

This exciting project, funded by Sport England, aims to encourage more people to take part in physical activities by pairing them with a volunteer ‘buddy’. Joan Collins has just been appointed as Volunteer Coordinator for the project. She will be joining the team in August and will be looking for people who want to take part and for volunteers shortly.

The Money Programme

We are really excited to announce ‘The Money Programme’ - a new project in conjunction with branCAB (Bedworth, Rugby and Nuneaton Citizens Advice Bureau). BranCAB provided a specialist training course for a team of Brunswick volunteers. Now they have been trained, the volunteers will be delivering training to individuals or small groups of local people in relation to money management e.g. household budgeting, credit options, banking options etc.

We will initially be running four workshops:-

Making your money go further – An introduction to the Money Programme and ideas to help you save money.

Counting every penny – Household budgeting.

AccountAbility 1 – An introduction to banking including opening an account with a bank, building society or Post Office.

AccountAbility 2 – More information about banking including options for saving and borrowing.

The first workshop, ‘Making your money go further’, will be held at the Centre on Wednesday, 14th October and the second, ‘Counting every penny’ on Wednesday, 21st October. Both workshops will begin at 10.00 am.

Bounce Back

Bounce Back is a small, friendly group of local women who have all had breast cancer and have come together to share experiences, support each other and even have a laugh! Bounce Back meets on the first Wednesday of every month from 7.00 pm. The next meeting will be held at Brunswick Healthy Living Centre on Wednesday 7th October. SPAN is a partnership of community based organisations in Warwick District, looking to enhance and develop a range of collaborative projects and services.

In the future, SPAN will seek to identify common areas of interest amongst partners, and engage with local partners to develop these further. This will ensure the membership will be fluid and changing.

The development of the SPAN group was a direct response to a group of Warwick District organisations identifying a need for partnership working. Following a number of successful bids the group decided to form a partnership and build on their successes. The opportunities are to:
Maximise resources
Reduce duplication of services
Improve effectiveness of organisations
Support sustainability
